Cossette Zeno (1930 - )
The sea is an important motif in the language of Zeno's work, and in Ton Corps Marin, the fantastical biomorphic shape she creates has an unmistakably subaqueous character. Zeno used to dive at the EscambroĢn Beach in Old San Juan, and the depth and vastness of the water touched her life irreversibly. The mystery of the sea was for Zeno a tremendously liberating space, and is made manifest in the sensuous, curvilinear forms of her art.
